The Glider uses a Mini Mal Template. This shape is super popular as it is ideal for surfers of most levels. It features some extra width and thickness to bump up the volume and ensure it has plenty of paddle power.

In this model, we've used an epoxy hybrid construction. This increases stiffness and durability and generally helps with overall board responsiveness. It also features our Parabolic Rolled Rails. These are more forgiving up front (less catching rail), but a little more responsive when doing turns etc.

The template is nice and straight, helping to easily generate down-the-line speed, while the rounded nose provides extra stability and ensures the board can plane nice and easily.

It's got a relatively low, continuous rocker. This allows the board to glide at speed, while still allowing turns and helping to prevent nose dives.

We've opted to use a Rounded Square tail to create the perfect mix of looseness, release and hold. We've made it a touch wider on this model, providing a bit of extra lift and acceleration from the smallest of waves.

This board features a Thruster Fin Set up using single tab fin boxes.

Softlite Hybrid Range

We've been working on the Hybrid Series for a couple of years now, but it has finally come to life!

Like name suggests, we've combined the favourable elements from both a Performance Fibreglass Boards & an Entry Level Softboard to create a range of softboards with a a greater focus on Performance.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Hybrid Construction Styles

The construction consists of a Stringered EPS Core, wrapped in Fibreglass Cloth & Epoxy Resin, which is then encapsulated by a traditional Soft Board deck skin and slick.

The major addition (in comparison to regular Softlite Construction) is the addition of the Fibreglass Internal Membrane.

Each Softlite Hybrid Series board contains 3 layers of 6oz Fibreglass set with Epoxy Resin on the Deck Side, and 1 layer of 6oz on the slick.

As a bit of a comparison, Standard Fibreglass Shortboards usually contain 2 X 4oz or 6oz on the Deck, an 1 x 4oz or 6oz on the slick.

WHATS THAT MEAN?

HIGHER PERFORMANCE

The Hybrid Construction style has allowed us to create soft boards that are much closer to a traditional fibreglass surfboard.

The addition of the Fibreglass Membrane makes them considerably stiffer, which increases the speed you are able to generate from your bottom turn and maintain through turns.

The added strength has also allowed us to make them a touch thinner which aids in increasing responsiveness and manoeuvrability.

CNC SHAPED CORES

To compliment the construction style, we've created new shapes with a greater emphasis on Performance.

The CNC technology allows us to make make minute adjustments to all aspects of the template, which ultimately has delivered a higher quality product.

AKU Shape Technology also allows for the addition of bottom contours.

FUTURES FIN BOXES

All Hybrid Models feature Futures Fin Boxes, with a set of Plastic Comp Fins Included with each board.

This ensures it is easy to install and remove fins, and is compatible with other Future Fins, allowing you to change your fins to suit conditions or alter board performance.

This also allows us to have a Deck without fin screws

PARABOLIC ROLLED RAILS

We've also done our best to solve the #1 problem of softboards - the rails! The Hybrid Range features an updated version of our Parabolic Rolled Rail Technology.

These are then hand shaped, allowing softer rails near the nose tapering down to a sharp, harder edged rail at the tail. Similar to regular fibreglass surfboards, it allows if to be forgiving and not catch rails up front, but gives it a bit more bite making it easier to turn off the tail.
